Carpet Snap Posts or Studs

another question. The transmission tunnel originally had 4 of these snap on posts.They were attached with screws to the fiber board. They are taller than anything in the carpet attachment kit.
Are they tall for use with the padding?
Or ??

A couple are eroded by corrosion. Should they be replaced with similar sized parts or does one just use standard size.
I am assuming that the floor pan carpets have the pad ending so that it does not go over the snaps. Or another way to put it the pad outside edge is inside the the perimeter of the snaps. Looks like the tunnel carpet would be different hence these taller posts. Am I correct?
