I just reviewed Moss' tape on carpet installation and they glue the carpet down under the seats and over the drive line tunnel. My car (64 BJ8) used snaps on the driveline tunnel but I don't know about under the seats. What did the factory use? I know the tranny tunnel and front pieces of the floor carpet uses snaps. Thanks for your help and have a good day!

I would avoid using glue on the floors, as it's always nice to be able to remove the carpets for cleaning, or at the very least, drying out.
 
Hello John,

Some of the carpet around the floor area does get glued. The area around the sides of the back seat, over the rear wheel wells, along the side of the doors, the area high in both foot wells, sides and front.

The transmission tunnel uses snaps.
Both the driver and passenger carpets have snaps.
There are two carpets in each compartment.
The front carpet, has 4 snaps.
The rear carpet, which goes under the seats, have 4 snaps.
 
I glued the carpet under the seats. One reason for this is that I did not want the seat rails to be on top of the carpet, due in part to ride height. That required cutting the carpet around the rails. The resulting strips would be impractical to snap. My car will always be garaged, so I don't worry too much about the rain factor. I also glued the transmission tunnel carpet. Looks better.
 
Has anyone tried gluing the snap to the floor to avoid drilling holes. I just hate drilling holes in the floor pan. epoxy? JB Weld?
