Carpet glue and roll bar padding

I just put a roll bar in the car, which required pulling up the carpet which was glued down quite well. Can someone tell me what is being used for this? The glue was very impressive! Also, with the roll bar, I was thinking some padding would be a good idea. Before I get in touch with a custom interior person (which I cannot afford), what has been done for this?
Btw, I am a cyclist, been at it for 27 years, both road and mountain bikes. I'm making up something to attach to the roll bar and road trip with my bike  I'll post pics when I get it figured out. Before the year is up, I'd like to drive to Lake Tahoe with the Stumpjumper and drive some great roads and carve some trail!

That's awesome. I've been a cyclist for almost 20 and started taking it seriously for the last 10. I ride road and mountain bikes as well as a tandem for my daughter and I. One of my favorite builds I have is a rigid singlespeed conversion of a Trek 8500. It's the bicycle equivalent of driving a Spridget: Simple, light, maneuverable with a ride that will knock fillings loose. It's best suited to the undulating trails here in Maryland. It probably wouldn't do well out west. I run a 33:18 gear, which makes it spinny on pavement, but doesn't blow up my knees on climbs.

I considered putting my Saris Bones rack on my Sprite, but haven't tried it. Much easier to just stick it on the Jetta.

Don't know what they used for glue then, but I know 3M Spray 77 or Spray 90 seems to be what is used these days. The carpet in my Sprite ('69) isn't glued down at all. It's held in place by the seat rails, and the sections in the wheel well and behind the seats are just held in there by gravity.

My carpets are simply contact cement - so far so good

The is roll bar padding available for the roll bar. Summit Racing, Jegs, Pegasus, Solo Performance. You would only need to buy a small tube.

Saxman, single speeds are great, I miss mine! Unfortunately I got out of shape, but gears on it, then swapped out the frame for a full suspension, sold it, now on to a new Stumpjumper FSR. One of these days I'll build up a Gunnar single speed again. I have had all sorts of bikes, but that single speed is one of the few I miss.

I have some of the spray adhesive I used on my dash, I'll give that a try. Seems a bit light, but if it works, great.
