Yesterday the wife and I went to the grand "re-opening" for the Carlito Springs Open Space area and nature trails. This is a region that we used to hike regularly up until about 3 years ago, when the county decided to do some major improvements and upgrades. We have been anxiously waiting for the place to reopen and yesterday it finally happened. Here is a video of the opening ceremony, plus a few pictures I snapped at the end of the ceremony.

 
Wonderful opening ceremony, and such a beautiful place. Oh to be able to travel again.

Who is the person Mrs Basil is hugging in the photo? Two happy faces for sure.

Her name is Harriet. Wife and her were just chatting, which led to “do you know so-and-so?” The next thing I know they are both excited to learn they have some friends in common. Hugs ensued, with an invitation to wife’s ladies group, and thus a new friend is born. :grouphug:
