Carlisle Import Show

Hi,

I'm going to attend the Carlisle show this May, and was wondering if anyone knows if there is a VTR sponsored concours judging event? I'm afraid my car won't be ready in time for the show, but it would be great to take a look at others who are as anal about making them original!! One picture is worth a thousand head scratches I guess!

Thanks,

Mark

This is one of my favorite events and larger than anything in the area. Great to go with a few friends and spend a few days. Im glad they seperated the tennis shoe in a dryer rice burners from the kit car and foreign into two seperate events. There isn't any part of this event that I don't enjoy.

Mark - the Central PA Triumph Club will be there all weekend and you will be able to see some very original cars as well as a few that are slightly modified (like mine!). They do not have any judging at Carlisle for this event but there will be VTR members there that can help you. Now all we have to do is wait for Spring -they are calling for a major snow storm tomorrow here.

Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing them all, and hopefully will get a chance to meet y'all there. If I can ever get the RF to deliver my parts, I might even drive my 70 TR-6 down there. If not, I'll be driving my 96 Caravan with 160K on it....Ha!

Mark, speaking of anal, a friend did a frameoff on a 67 and trailed it to the TRF/VTR summer party last year. It was a work of art! He didn't place. Concours judging can be subjective and heartbreaking. I get a kick out of watching the Jaguar contingency do their own thing at our annual show, coming up March 19 in New Orleans. I have to admire those guys but I could never do that, unless I was Jay Leno.
My buddy said to heck with it and drives his car alot. Maybe that is what it needed - a patina......

Bill,

I'm thinking that once I look at the whole concours judging up close and personal, I'll probablly do the same thing...drive it!! I've put over 80K on it since I bought it in 1990 and I don't plan on trailering it anywhere! So it probablly won't compete with the trailer queens.

I have done a frame up on my TR4A and practically a complete restoration of a Stag..... Won many awards with the Stag but did not win anything the first few years with the TR4A. Disappointing but there were many new TR4A's showing up at shows and it was getting quite competive. So I built my car the way I wanted it... judson supercharger, lowered suspension, surrey top, ralley seats, etc.... and starting winning participant choice awards. Won second place at the VTR in my class and drove the car the entire time. But most importantly the car is a blast to drive (especially after the Rover V8 conversion). Drive your car, that is what they are meant for!
