I've seem other stories where courts have been going after even those who have used doctors and/or sperm banks. Seems to be more that states feel someone should be responsible for the bills and this expands the circle of potential wallets to tap.
 
A old friend of mine in NY told me of the true story of an old friend of his... who had an affair with a woman (who said she was on the pill). Turns out the woman was a lesbian interested in getting pregnant with her partner. She did. When she and her partner separated, she sued this guy for child support!!! Evidently, though, he counter-sued for custody of the child and won! LOL A few years later, the guy's wife got sick of his behavior and divorced him and received custody of the child!
