Carbon Canister woes

Whilst redoing my front suspension, I removed my carbon canister to get better access to my R side fulcrum bracket, and I placed the canister on the "shelf" above the washer reservoir. One accidental hood drop later (bad enough in and of itself), and I have less carbon cannister than before. Are there reasonable replacements for this, original or aftermarket? How much do I need it?
TIA

You don't need it.
Unless of course you are worried about the Federal law making it a crime to remove it.

Or the possibility that CA may repeal the current exemption from smog inspection for cars made before 1975.

Or perhaps if you plan to move to a state that does inspect old car smog equipment.

If it's the 3-outlet type, then I believe replacements are available. If it's a 2-outlet, then I believe you have to either use a 3-outlet (by capping off one of the tubes); or find a used one. They do show up on eBay occasionally for not too much money; think I paid $12 for mine.

OR if you don't want your garage to smell like gas since your gas tank vent should also be piped into the canister.

Thanks Joe (and everyone else)! I think I'll bid on one of those. Looks like a cheap way to have the part should I need/want to install it.

If you do, I'd suggest disassembling it and cleaning the screen in the bottom before installing it on the car. The one I got was almost totally blocked by dirt, rust & charcoal fragments. Cleaned up well, though.

If the screen is blocked, the car won't idle right. Closing off the bottom of the canister is how the anti-runon valves kill the engine.
