Carb/Waterchoke rebuild

Keep me in your thoughts and prayers today, I completed my first Stromburg rebuild last night. Was too tired to attempt start up. (the ale played a small role too). I can't wait to get out of the office !!

I also wanted to thank tosoutherncars for the links, they were invaluable. (especially the one on the water choke) If we ever meet, Brews or Cokes are on me.

It seems my enrichment needle was seized in the enrichment tube, thus not allowing any movement of the choke, thus running rich. Well thats my hope anyway.

Cheers

My pleasure, Duds! If I've got the choice, it'll definitely be brews.

Don't worry, when you give up on the Z-S and move to a DGV, I'll have some links and advice on that, too!

Hope the start-up goes well.

Success!!! She ran great ! I am almost ready for the Mid Ohio trip Friday AM. Just an oil Change and I'm ready to go.

Hope to see anyone going, look for me.
I hope to be planted in the infield Friday and Saturday.
I'll be the Orange 79 Spit with red, silver, and blue stripes (factory).

Thanks again Duncan!

Cheers!!

Don't forget to check your mixture! If successive generations of owners have tried to lean it out (to compensate for a stuck-on choke) you may need to richen it up a little.

Seems to me the process is about the same as with SUs - lift piston slightly, note change in idle, adjust, rev engine to clear, and repeat... your manual should confirm.
