Hello everyone! I recently removed my carbs to restore. Off came the carbs, heatshield, etc. This is the tri carb set up. I am almost due to reinstall and do not remember which order the phenolic carb spacers go. Starting from the intake manifold, is it, spacer,heatshield,carburetor or is it heatshield, spacer, carburetor. Basically I guess my question is which goes on the intke manifolds first. The spacer or the heatshield? Thanks.

It's been a couple decades (1985) since I had SUs on my Healey, but I'm pretty sure the heatshield goes closest to the aluminum intake manifold.
Seems to me, that if you do it the other way 'round, the carb linkage doesn't have enough room to get a full swing.

pete3000, what i do remember about the tricarb is that you should have 3 spacers and 6 gaskets.

Phenolic resin can include any of various synthetic thermosetting resins such as Bakelite, obtained by the reaction of phenols with simple aldehydes and used to make molded products, including pool and snooker balls, Austin Healey horn buttons, distributor caps and carb insulating blocks, and and as coatings and adhesives.
The properties of phenolic materials make them very well suited to myriad industrial applications. Phenolics are the result of polymerization between resin and a base material that can be paper, glass or cotton.
Bakelite is made from phenolic resin and wood flour.
