carb settings on a 72 B

I just moved from tennessee to texas, right after a carb rebuild; I've noticed a drop in mileage by 4 mpg since I've been here, though I didn't get a thoroughly reliable estimate on the rebuild before the move... Anyway, while I'm not squirming too badly over 20 mpg, can anyone suggest relative settings for best running?

edothas, after a good drive and fully warmed up,pull your plugs and see what they look like, should be a grayish brown if all is well. If white you are too lean, if more black, to rich and keep which plugs came from where as this will tell you if one carb is richer than the other. This should give you a good starting point. Wayne

It also depends where you are in Texas.

El Paso is 4000' above sea level
Galveston is at sea level

It's a heck of a difference for a carburator!
