Carb mixture question

I'm doing some tuneup work this weekend, and have a question about the mixture nut on the bottom of the carbs.

If I'm looking at the carbs from the left side of the engine, straight at the air cleaners, which way do I turn the nuts to lean out the mix?
 
You would screw them in, or to the right, or the back of the car, or clockwise, or up; depending on how your brain works. When you screw the nut in, it raises the jet, which leans it out. ( righty-tighty, lefty-loosy.)
 
Not sure which carbs you have, but for my little H1s, turn the nuts up (clockwise) to lean and turn them down (counter clockwise) to rich.
 
OK, I have thought three times before posting this but isn't leaning it anti-clockwise? (right) and richer clockwise? (left)
 
Jp your right, it is easier to look straight down on the carb.

CCW would be screwing up = leaning out
CW would be unscrewing = enriching the mixture

at least for my twisted brain...

I think that all makes sense now... always gets me confused when the nut is on the bottom of something (as opposed to the nut who's turning the wrench, but then that's something entirely different).
 
Yes- pushing the wrench handle toward the rear of the car makes the carb run leaner, toward the front = richer.
