Seeing that other question about carb dampers reminded me of a problem I have always had with my 73 MGB. After driving anywhere from 30 minutes to all day, the damper "covers" vibrate loose - that is, they unscrew themselves - and the dampers sit open until I discover it and screw them back in. Sometimes one does it; sometimes both do it. The amount of driving time to make it happen varies greatly. I used to fill the dampers until oil showed in the narrowest tube toward the top. A British car mechanic suggested I was overfilling them so now I only fill until the level reaches the very bottom of the narrowest tube. Doesn't matter, still happens.
