Car Spotting

I have just returned from a 2 week trip to Oregon. It was great, beautiful coast, wish I had done it in the TR3 but I had one too many passengers.

During the trip, I saw: 3 MGBs in Ashland, one MGB on a trailer coming inland from Bandon (on a trailer, looked like for restoration).

While in Newport, I saw 1 Austin Mini, 1 Austin Healey, another MGB and an XKE.

In Depoe Bay, I saw another Austin Healey.

At Cannon Beach I saw a Mini Cooper (not the BMW but a real one).

While in Portland, I saw an Austin Mini for sale, another MGB, and a MGTD.

Traveling back to Ashland I saw a Morris Minor Ute on a trailer (hopefully on it's way to restoration).

And this morning (some 446 miles ago) an MG midget in Ashland.

So, the question is, Where are all the Triumphs?

Spoken like a true Wolverine.

My sister-in-law is a Beaver who lives in Poulsbo WA

There are a couple of nice TR6s living in Ashland. Speaking of Ashland, I would retire there in a heartbeat, if I had the money. Sadly, it has gotten "discovered" by the monied Californians, driving the price of real estate through the roof. My oldest son finished college there and did his masters at SOU in tree hugging. Ashland, the center of the universe. Did you notice the billboard aimed at California welcoming visitors but imploring them not to stay? Sadly they are taking over the pear orchards and even converting Talent and Phoenix (OR) to yuppiedom. I have a sister-in-law and her husband that live uphill in Jacksonville. Also quite nice.

No Triumph owner would live in Oregon!
I suspect that the members of the Portland Triumph Owners Association would beg to differ. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif Plenty of Triumphs there, including a whole bunch of the mid-1960s 2000 sedans; apparently those cars sold there new better than just about any other area of the US. There were at least NINE such cars present at the VTR National Convention in Portland in 2000.

As a Spitfire owner and a PTOA member I resemble that remark. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif Here are some Triumphs at last month's Historic Races at PIR.

I'm sorry I missed the Triumphs in Portland.

As I said, If it hadn't been for the extra passenger I would have been driving my TR3.

The featured marque for the All British Field Meet at PIR this Labor Day weekend is (drum roll please)... Triumph /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif . So come on back to see some Oregon Triumphs.

I think there must have been a car show at the Tillamook County Fair, as we passed MG's, TR's, Austin Healeys, in addition to several Alfas, and other marks as we headed South on 101 last Friday.

Beautiful drive, beautiful state.

Why doesn't the link work?
