Car leaning on one side

Hi, I've just picked up a 1970 Midget MkIII and it's in good solid condition. Apart from a poor clutch it runs really well.

The most obvious problem though is it is leaning over to the drivers side quite noticeably. The PO had just fitted new rear leaf springs and the front passenger side (the high side) has been overhauled. Front springs weren't replaced though and that's what I'm going to try first (new front springs were included in the sale).

Has anyone had this before?

Mine does too, I think quite a few of them list a little.
I blame mine on doughnuts.

Diolch yn fawr Barry.

Maybe the new rear leaves have settled on the drivers side but not on the unused passenger side, I might swap them over and see it it helps.

If it does , you will be the first one to have that trick succeed.

mine leans as well, i have new front springs, new rear springs, TWICE,switched them twice i have added a couple of leafs in the rear, all to no avail still leans. i am thinking of pulling a leaf out on the high side...maybe that will work, but at this point i have little hope

maybe it would be a good time to swap to left hand drive /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/banana.gif /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

Maybe the car is set up for high-banked ovals! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

You know my 69 Sprite list also. I spent about an hour under the rear measuring and much to my surprise the distance from the axle mount is the same on both sides mesuring from the top of the tunnel to the spring mounts. I measured the spring length both from the axle to the shackle and from the axle to the front mounts. Even the placement of the shock arms appear to be the same. I never found why the car appears to list to the drivers side.

I hope you find a reason and let us all know.
Anthony
