What is everybody's choice for a fire extinguisher to carry around in your LBC?

DVT (Delaware Valley Triumphs) is placing a group order for this one:
5 lb Amerex model B385 Halotron 1 Clean Agent Fire Extinguisher. Unlike traditional dry chemical agents such as monoammonium phosphate (ABC Dry Chemical) or potassium bicarbonate (Purple K), which can be corrosive, Halotron I is a clean agent that leaves no residue after application, and consequently inflicts little to no collateral damage on equipment in the vicinity of the fire. Group price $117.

I have the ABC extinguisher purchased for around $30 from a local fire saftey company. Hope I never have to use it but know it will work if I do. They will test it for free every year (along with the house extinguishers) so I am not left wondering if it's still good.

I too just have a cheapie..Came in a 2 pack from the local hardware store.
Most shows in our area require one in each car before they allow it on the field. Usually they have a supply of them to sell at the gate for those who missed the memo.
I like the sound of the one Frank is getting.

Approved for aircraft use, this small Halon extinguisher is just the ticket! Not cheap at $125.00, but small and effective. Has a 12 year shelf life. PJ

Here's a suggestion from a friend of mine who's a fireman:

Take all your extinguishers once every few months and shake them. He claims that it may prevent a sticky valve.

I don't know if it works, but I do it. Costs nothing and might help.

I do recall a fire at Lime Rock where I grabbed an extinguisher from a friend's car and it didn't work. Gauge said it was good. The owner said the extinguisher had been sitting unmoved in a shed for 3 years.

Hi Frank. The DVT offer is what got me started on asking the question.

Another forum has brought this one to light, Fire Stryker www.henrillc.com/firestryker.html

I have contacted them for more information.

From what I have gathered, I don't think your going to want to pay for one right now! They need to be on the market for a while and maybe, just maybe the price will get more real! For the house it's around $320.00 and for industrial use, which is merely a longer charge, it's almost $1,000.00 and for a car, the price is somewhere in between. PJ

I like Halon and the small chrome ones look nice mounted in a car. JMHO. PJ

I tow my garden hose behind me where ever I go.

Still haven't got it running eh?

80% OF Triumph's manufactured are still on the road. The rest managed to get started again or arranged a tow.
