Car cover recommendations?

If/when I get the TR6 I'm looking at, I will need a car cover for it, something that can withstand the very occasional heavy downpour.

There is such a huge variety of covers out there, at prices to suit all pockets, that I am thoroughly confused. I assume I need something waterproof, rather than "water resistant"?

Does anyone have a recommendation?

Aloha Julian,

I would think you need some type of material that breaths. You don't want to create a "cloud" under the cover by trapping moisture inside the cover. If the cover is water proof on the outside, it stands to reason that water can not pass through out of the cover.

Dave is correct.A breathable cover is best as no moisture will trap underneath it. Unfortunately, it will not keep out all the moisture either. The secret is, uncover the car after bad weather and let the cover dry. Hope this helps

Hi
I got a breathable car cover from an outfit in Califorina and it has worked well. I am in the Northwest and we see a bit of moisture over the course of a year. They can freeze to the car though so one must watch out for that. It does not trap moisture underneath and the car has never been damp inside.
I can't remember the name and am away from home until later tonight. I can find the receipt and let you know.
I originally found the company on a TR website and they had factory seconds which were about 45 or 50 bucks. It has worked well and is washable.

My across-the-street has a vintage Mustang sitting in his driveway covered with a premium car cover for 3 years now. He never drives it, cause it has no engine, but now the thing is a rust bucket. Now, we are in a climate that is usually 80% humidity. Be cautious when relying on a car cover. And never, never leave it parked on dirt.

Yes, please let me know. This being Southern California, it's good for cars: low humidity and essentially no rain for most of the year. Although when it does rain, it pours /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

I looked at the Calfornia Car Cover Company: their stuff looks very good. They have a MultiWeave cover for the TR6 at $109 which sounds suitable.

Julian thanks for bringing this up, and I hope you don't mind I hop on board.
What about inside my garage cover for winter storage. I have shopped at different sites and there are too many different kinds. What is good for the garage (often heated)

Be my guest /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif That dash looks fabulous: did you do it yourself?

Yes,Well not really I had a couple of hundred forum members helping me. Thanks to all!!

I'm not a guy who has a car that needs a cover but I've seen lots of cars here using the Evolution fabric covers and the owners like 'em.

I got home and looked up what I have. It's from Covercraft Industries. It is a Technalon and it was one of the factory rejects. I still haven't found anything wrong with it. Part #C80002RB Size C for a TR6. I also installed a manual retractable antenna which is really nice when using a cover.
I found this via the web from here: https://www.buckeyetriumphs.org/technical/TR6ShopReference/TR6ShopReferenceData.pdf
