Saw an ad in the local "cheap" paper.
Was for a '77 Nova - it had an "inline V6".
Must have been a rare model!

I see that a lot more than not these days. Not so surprising as you can half expect that with a private seller. But you’d think a "professional" would know more about the vehicles there are trying to sell to the public.

Example: When my wife & I where vehicle shopping last year, I was surprised & annoyed at how many salesmen didn't know “diddly-squat” about the products they where pushing on the public. Of course I’m probably more informed when I walk on a car lot than the average buyer. God help you if you ask them about anything more complicated than color & interior options.

lol I know what you mean - it blew the salesman's mind when I could tell him more about the Miata I was looking at then he had any clue about - and the sales manager absolutely hated me when we got down to 'brass tacks' and I said he could do better than what he was offering because I knew what he had given for trade-in value on the car /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif (Thanks to the on-line blue book!)

I ended up with a really good deal in the end /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

And probably two guy who hope they never see you on the lot again anytime soon. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I research everthing I buy before I ever go out to buy it. Last time I bought a stereo, I studied hard, picked the one I wanted, knew all it's features inside and out. But then when I went to buy it, I walked in and said "sell me a stereo", and had the guy tell me all the features anyway, and comparisons of it and other similar models they had. Did a nice long listening session with three of them. I bought the stereo I had picked beforehand, but that guy actually impressed me, and I bought the speakers he recommended too. I'm sure wouldn't have, if he hadn't known what he was talking about.

No doubt - but then I plan on keeping this car for quite awhile anyway!

I can respect a salesman who takes the time to know his product and doesn't try to high pressure me - the more pressure you try to put on me to buy, the quicker I'll walk out the door. And I'm just a piker compared to my wife - the deals she's negotiated are legendary in the family! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumbsup.gif
