A friend of mine just showed me this blog post, the tenth photo down someone captured me, doing my photography thing...

https://everydaytourist.ca/blog/2016/2/8/are-downtowns-relevant-in-the-21st-century-city

I remember the man I photographed that day quite well from last July, a real character, he attended his first Calgary Stampede in 1949 and still loves it... My photo?

That old fella has seen a lot of change in Calgary since 49!
Enjoyed reading that blog also.
didn't realize:
1) Calgary had grown so much ( I was there on business in the 80's)
2) Alberta is such a Huge Provence! Looks like it's a 1/4 the size of the US.

thx Sherlock

Lots of land and not much population... As the blog says, low population levels outside of our two biggest cities (Calgary and Edmonton), a scene like this is only three hours outside of Calgary, where I took this photo recently the population is extremely low...

That is a stylish hat James. I like the photo he took of you, but I really like the photo you took of the fella in blue.

That's one of my special hats, it only comes out occasionally... And I only paid $18 for it, at the garage sale of a local musician... :encouragement:

This may be a little off topic but why is Winnipeg so cold while Edmonton, much further north, is much warmer most of the time?

Umm... This winter has been extremely warm in Alberta, there is almost no snow on the ground, our average temperature recently has been 5 to 10 Celcius, and we still haven't had a day colder than -15 Celcius... I would say that normally Edmonton does get quite cold in winter, Winnipeg has historically had very cold winters, it seems to be in a certain geographic place that has both very hot summers and very cold winters, I believe there is a reason why...

Here is a link I just found... https://www.currentresults.com/Weather-Extremes/Canada/coldest-cities-winter.php
