All ready to go, just need it to be Saturday! Need to pick up a few spare tie-downs, then we'll be ready to go.

Drew
What is your route?
Paul

I-15. Pretty much turn left in Provo, Utah and turn right in Fallbrook, CA.

I'll pick up I15 in Provo Utah (about 1/2 hour southwest of me) and drive that all the way to Fallbrook. Down on Saturday, back on Sunday. Bit brutal, but it's all the time we have.

Hi Drew, I have been following your saga. i am glad that you found what you want. I live in Bonita, which is in south San Diego County and Fallbrook is north, but I could drive up to Fallbrook if you think you might need some help on Saturday evening. I am going to a car show in Pacific Beach on Sunday, but can lend a hand on Saturday if you need me.It is strange that you find your Bugeyes in San Diego and whenever I looked for one they were in Seattle or Omaha Nebraska, or somewhere far from San Diego. Finally found mine in a small town outside Seattle in May 2012.

Thanks for the offer of assistance, 59diamond. I don't expect we'll have any issues loading the car, I've got straps and a come-along if necessary. I will PM you for your contact info just in case, though.

Funny where the car search takes you. Pure chance got me to the San Diego area twice now. I never expect to find anything local, but then a couple years ago a neighbor at the top of my street sold his Mk1 Midget, just after I had bought my first Bugeye (or I'd have probably bought the Midget, could have coasted it down the hill to my house). Sorry to be taking all the Bugeyes out of your area.

Just a word of caution Drew - the LA Times just ran article advising the Nevada Highway Patrol is really coming down hard on motorists for the littlest infraction between Las Vegas and CA. I know you are a most excellent driver but just be a little extra vigilant to avoid an unpleasant encounter with the NHP, otherwise enjoy your quick trip!

Thanks for the heads up, good to be advised.

Hey I can't wait as well. Heading to Chillicothe, OH in the AM to take a final look at a BE I've been chasing for cloase to 3 years now. I think this will turn out to be a parts car but it could turn out to be a future project. I looked at this one a long time ago. Unmolested since it was last titled in '78 when it broke and got parked in a barn. I get to meet the nephew of the actual owner tomorrow and he has offered to help resolve the Title Issue with his uncle. Even if it remains a parts car, 20+ years in a barn over a dirt floor, and last 15 in an airplane hangar, tons of parts including a full dash, seats, cockpit surround, heater, wiper motor, and most importantly a bonnet easier to restore than the one that came with Bugsy II. Engine is frozen up but I've got a spare 948 and smoothcase that is coming out of Bugsy II. Assuming I can resolve any open quesitons on this BE, it will be in my garage right after Labor Day. My wife finally agreed that if you really think you absolutely need this car, go for it!!!

Congrats on your success with your wife, Jim -- that's always a key component! Hope it all checks out for you.

Brutal drive, but you have done it before. If you were not in a rush, you could do I80 and hwy 5 a d stop in here about the 1/2 way point.
Next time.
Paul

Wish I had more time to make this a pleasant trip, but we've got just the two days. Stack of audiobooks loaded on the iPods, some snacks, and off we go.

Drive Safe. Get plenty of Sleep Tonight!
