I can't see the videos you guys post. I just the audio but the picture freezes up and wont play all the way through. What do I need to do? This started about three weeks ago.

If you mean YouTube videos, click the "gear" on the bottom line, then choose a slower speed (like 240).

Tom

try re-installing FlashPlayer. try using Chrome as your browser; it has Flash incorporated into it.

If you're still having the problem, did you try changing the YouTube speed (using the "gear")?

Tom

I heard chrome was bad.

The whole browser debate is a bit like the PC vs Apple debate. Each has strengths and weaknesses, and it's really a matter of personal preference which you use. Some web pages work better in one or the other in my experience. It certainly won't hurt to install Chrome and see if it solves the problem. If it doesn't help, you can always uninstall it easily.

Tom's suggestion will help if your bandwidth is limiting. You can check your bandwidth at any number of free sites; just type "bandwidth test" in any search engine. It's odd that the problem would start suddenly three weeks ago, which makes me think it was caused by some browser/Flash problem caused by an automatic update to one of them.

Hi Keith - reason I suggested lowering the frame rate (the "quality"), is he says the videos freeze. Doesn't say the videos don't show up. That's why I'm thinking it's not a flash problem - but a speed problem. Could also be that if someone posts a link to a YouTube video, and many guys all hit that video at the same time, it could be an overload at the server end.

Anyway, would be good to hear if he's tried "hitting the gear" to lower the frame rate (the "quality").

How's the skiing in your neck o' the woods?

Tom

Hi Tom,
Usually when a video freezes because of insufficient bandwidth, both the picture and sound stop. He says the sound continues, which supports a Flash problem (I think).

At the risk of hijacking this thread -- the skiing is terrible. Please send snow. Cold enough for you in your neck of the woods?

Keith

Snow allotment has been shifted to the northeast this season. Sugarloaf deserves a break.
