Can't Decide - Rare 2 seater Healey, or this?

Gotta love those old racers. 12.3 liters and chain drive.
A similar car to that won the first New York to Paris Great Race.

I ran a recreation of the Vanderbilt Cup event a few years ago and a simiar-looking Pope automobile showed up that has run that event 100 years ago. ~HERE~ it is.

Wonder why it's going so cheap?

Needs bigger wheels, 5 point harnesses and the whitewalls gotta go. Wonder what it'll cost to put a full cage and a coffee can exhaust on the back - for more a bit power...

I looked at it a few days ago and was wondering how they squeaked so much horsepower out of 750 cubic inches.

I think if it's a money-is-no-object thing, go for the fire damaged 2-seater. If, however you are on a budget, get the Thomas racer.

Seriously though, someone put a lot of love into this one.

Looks to me like a PERFECT foundation to recreate the Grand Prix car that crashes in the first fifteen (?) minutes of my FAVORITE all time car movie and then gets transformed into my all time favorite car - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang!

Two things I just noticed at the top of the listing. The first is that the current bid is $455,600.00, and in little blue letters it says "<span style="color: #000099">Reserve Not Met</span>". And then, directly under that, I'm told that I can "<span style="color: #000099">Get low monthly payments</span>". Yeah, maybe if they'll extend me a 170 year loan!

Using ebay's calulator, it looks like it would currently be only about $7200.00 a month. That is with a 5% down payment. I did not see if I could get a lender to appove me.
