Can't change avatar

Maybe I'm stupid but I can't seem to change my avatar. It says that my profile has been updated but no change in the photo. The size is correct. I can get rid of my current avatar but when I add my new pic it brings back my old one.
 
A couple of possibilities. First, make sure the image is no bigger than 80x80 pixels. Also make sure the file size is 14k or smaller (.gif or .jpg). Finally, when you make the upload, be sure to clear you browser's cacheto be sure you are not seeing a caches version of the image.

you were probably seeing the old image stored in your browsers cache and it just took a while for you to see the new image.
