Had Plans for a road trip in the TR6 1973 up to Moscow ID this last week. Car was fine the weather was not 104 t0 114 deg. So we took the 2020 KIA Pic to follow

Several years ago I took my Spitfire on a TDY trip from Scott AFB, IL to San Antonio, TX. I remember driving through Texas in 100° + heat. I made my own air conditioning but getting a large cup of ice, then putting ice in my baseball cap and letting the cool water drip down my face!

Here in SW Oklahoma it gets hot, 100+, pretty often. You get used to it.

Bas, that's really close to what we do. Soak a handkerchief then wring it out good and tie it around your neck. Works surprisingly well and you don't have melting ice dripping in your face. 🤣

Living in the Reno NV area I was hopping for cooler temps North. The whole North West was over 100 I should have gone to the coast. The trip home was middle 90's I can live with that 114 not so much.

Outside temp several years ago while driving the Vet near OK City on way to Huntsville, AL. I suspect the pavement of the highway was amplifying the heat.

I suspect you're right. The part of the state I live in gets a little hotter than the City and we've only had a few days where it has genuinely hit 120 that I can remember.

I believe it was two, maybe three years ago we broke a local record for having over forty consecutive days over 110.

When I lived in Fresno CA 113 for days and days rolling black-outs 100 at midnight in the pool with no power. I guess the worst I worked flight line in Nam, Arizona heat closed the airport at times. It will all pass snow shovel before you know it.

I believe the record high temp in OKC was 113 in 2012. 100 is not uncommon at all but we rarely see 110. But unlike NM or AZ, it is not a dry heat. there usually is significant humidity with it. Still a few years ago on my way home from work, a block down the street from my house was an unusual sight. A man was sitting on the curb with his daughter, looked to be maybe 5 years old. He was actually frying an egg on the street.

I looked it up and according to the Lawton COOP the record for Lawton, which is about twenty miles away is 115. Averages this time of year hover around 100.

This year has been really weird, we've had a ton of rainfall and the highs have been in the 80s. It's almost like we've gotten the Pacific NWs weather and they have ours.
