MGB Canadian MGB LE - Production Number?

I have the chance to buy a Canadian MGB LE. From what I've found to date, it's a Limited Edition with only 250 units produced for Canada. The current owner is advertising it as #73 of 250, but I've not been able to verify that number. This is an 04/1979 and the last six digits of the VIN are 492760. I know that the VIN for #1 of 250 ends with 492071, so my car looks to be in that range, but I can't find out how to decode #73. Can anyone please help?
Thanks.
Collin
Since my post (above) I've found the following information: Can anyone verify if it's correct please?

The number of your Canadian MGB LE refers to its production number within the limited run of 250 cars. To determine your specific number, you'll need to locate the Commission Number on your car. This number, stamped on a plate secured to the bonnet lock platform, indicates the car's individual production sequence. The first Canadian LE, for example, was car number 492071, and the 500,000th MGB produced was a US LE, number 509313.
How to find your car's number:
1. Locate the Commission Number plate:
This plate is typically found on the bonnet lock platform (the area under the hood, near the latch).
2. Read the number:
The number stamped on the plate is your car's unique production number within the 250 limited editions.

Someone may come by and correct me, but, in MG world Limited Editions were generally special stickers, stripes or accessories. Mine was a 'special' and it had: June '76 for a limited period, Midget "Specials" were offered with Luggage rack, wheel trim rings and the big T shaped stripe on the side for the USA market.

So, while it may be a true limited edition - and there might be a dash plaque or something denoting that, I doubt that the VIN will reflect this - or that you might be able to find out anything more specific. I am also doubtful that it would add to the value. Mostly it would be an interesting story at cruise night.

I do recall that the last 500 MGBs were 'specials' and all painted black.

Good Luck and keep us posted!

The MGB Limited Edition sold in North America wasn't that limited. According to "Original MGB, the Restorer's Guide to all Roadsters and GT models 1962-80" by Anders Clausager, 6682 were produced. The cars were painted black with black or beige interior, silver stripes on the side, five-spoke cast alloy wheels, front air dam, three spoke leather covered steering wheel, etc.
