I'm not sure how many WW1 veterans are left worldwide now, I know not very many... But Canada no longer has any surviving veterans of The Great War, as John Babcock passed way at the age of 109...

Anorak fact... He had been a resident of the United States since the 1920's - most recently Spokane, WA - so spent most of his life outside Canada... But anyway, some are calling for a state funeral as has happened in some other countries for the passing away of their final Great War veteran...

Imagine the change the world went through during his life, from being born before the Wright brothers flew and travel outside a small distance from home took major effort, through being able to see and interact with someone almost anywhere in the world in real time via the net. We may never see that much change in the world over a lifetime again.
