General MG Canada to USA?

Has anyone recently bought a Canadian car and brought (or shipped) it back to USA?

I'm trying to get a handle on exactly how to do that - paperwork, customs, provincial documentation, etc. Several guys have told me it's no big deal - but haven't done it themselves.

I've also found a few companies that will do all the paperwork and ship to you - but as the car(s) I'm interested in are only a few hundred miles from me, I'd like to know how to do it myself in case I buy one.

Also posted in Triumph area.

Thanks all.

When I brought the MGB in I used one of those companies, Tom - TFX International. It was painless other than the price, but I had to ship it anyways as it was a long ways away from me. Once in the states registering it was a snap. While I didn't do the paperwork directly, I do remember that we had to list every item that came with the car (spare parts and such).

Thanks Drew. The world revolves around paperwork for sure!

I'll likely use TFX if I do buy the car. But they know what they're doing, so I hope it's worth it.
