I just got this message from the mgacars@yahoogroups.com.
From one MGA fan to another, If you have an MGA that you rent for special occasions or know of someone who does I'm interested in renting it for a day.
Why an MGA you ask? My Dad's 80th birthday is coming up in March and for his gift I want to take him for a ride in an MGA much like he did when my sister and I were kids.
My Dad purchased a 1962 1600 MKII in 1975 and during the summer he took me and my sister for rides in the country with the top down. We had a blast and have such fond memories still to this day. In the fall of that year he parked it in the garage and it's been there ever since. It was my Dad’s hearts desire to restore this little roadster, but never got around to finishing the project. He got side tracked restoring a 62 Midget and partially restoring a 77 MGB. In the late 90's he began working on the car and made a little progress here and there, but in the last couple years he's been diagnosed with dimentia and alzheimers and is unable to finish the project. He turned the MGA and MGB over to me about a year ago, and I have the hopes of one day taking him for a ride in his own MGA.
This is something I would really like to do for him, but can't do it without your help. Even if you don't own an MGA, but know of someone who does and would be willing to help me out would be very much appreciated as well.
My Dad's birthday is March 26 and would like the car either that day or the 25th, which ever would work out best for you. My intentions would be to pick up, drive, and return it during the daylight hours all in the same day (if the car is in Portland). My parents live on the west side of Portland, Or and I live in Elma, Wa which is near Olympia. I have a car trailer for use and can avoid putting extra miles on your roadster. Please contact me by either replying to this listing or you can call me at 360-620-0597 or 360-482-8333.
Thank you,
Chris
It's rather too far for me to be of much use, but maybe someone?????
