After I got the DSLR I wanted a bag to haul a full compliment of "stuff" so if occasion presented itself it would be simple to travel with as much gear all in one bag as possible. Found NOTHING contemporary to suit that purpose. Started hunting Ebay for "vintage" bags and found a Fotima with the right capacity. I'd managed a camera store for a while back in the late '80's and we carried the line, so it was familiar. Bag arrived and was as advertised, suspect it was "too large" for whoever bought it and it was in a closet most of its life. Only "ding" about it was the shoulder strap, it wasn't removable. I got some 3-inch "camping gear" buckles and did some cutting and stitching, now it is...

I have a Tamrac bag similar to that, minus the front cubby. It's been doing the same thing yours had been, in the closet. That bag pulls oddly on my shoulder when I carried it. I use a backpack style now, usually just one shoulder unless the trek is longish.

I wonder if the straps are sown in to prevent theft?

I hear ya about the large bag and lugging it on a trek. The idea here is to get to destination and transfer what any actual shoot may take, into a smaller bag.

For whatever reason, I've tried backpack style bags and dislike 'em. The cross-body shoulder strap bags are easier for me to work out of. Funny what we get used to!
