General TR Cam shaft upgrade?????

Just about to get my TR3B engine back from the machine shop and will be assembling it soon.
I'm wondering about a camshaft upgrade. Installed new stock valves & springs W/Bronze guides, mains and rod bearings.
87.5 pistons W/ liners.
The shop says my cam and bearings are "OK"

Need input or opinions on this camshaft..... The lift seems to be the most change from stock but I have no experiance and may be reading the charts and specs incorectly.

<This is a New performance camshaft for a Triumph TR2, TR3, TR4, TR4A. Spec's: Duration 270, Intake lift .410, exhaust .400. Good idle, stock valve springs ok, 12 to 15 HP gain over stock, call for further details. Do not forget new lifters! >

Thanks
Jim

John,
Youre right. After extensive opinions and advice on another forum I've decided to use stock cam and not worry about all the mpdifications that go along with a high lift cam. I've got another engine with a slight shave on the head that I will do some experimentation with...it will be a good 'Winter' project, I'm getting real itchy to drive my car and the paindemik has realy put the schedule in the red. I'm ready to start reassembly as soon as I can get the head and block from the shop, hopefuly tomorrow...
I've got all the main parts in hand and only need a few bits that are on order, things are starting to move again with turnaround time on orders and I'm shooting for two weeks till startup....

I think you will be very happy with the stock cam and the extra displacement. It won't be modern sports car performance, but it will be very fun to drive! When you get into performance cams, you have a lot more set-up to contend with. Things like guide clearance checks, spring bind, high spring loads that shorten valvetrain life, piston clearance checks, break-in issues, etc.

Now that said...like I said, don't let me crash your party. If you have the time and money, I always find it fun to try new things...so you may enjoy doing the cam mod. Just go in with the knowledge that it does add work and mx down the road.
