From the European Press:

"Tue Dec 11, 2:33 PM ET
BERLIN (AFP) - Michael Schumacher may well be the fastest taxi driver in Germany after the seven-times world champion shocked a cab driver by taking over the wheel in order to be on time for a flight.
Schumacher, 38, flew into the aerodrome at the Bavarian town of Coburg on Saturday and took a taxi to the village of Gehuelz, 30 kilometres away, to pick up a new puppy - an Australian Shepherd dog called "Ed".
But when the former Formula One ace, plus his wife and two children, caught a taxi back to the airport they were short on time and, after a polite request, cab driver Tuncer Yilmaz watched in wonder as Schumacher took the wheel.
"I found myself in the passenger seat, which was strange enough, but to have "Schumi" behind the wheel of my cab was incredible," Mr Yilmaz told the Muenchner Abendzeitung.
"He drove at full throttle around the corners and over-took in some unbelievable places."
Mr Yilmaz was well rewarded for the unusual journey - on top of the 60 euros (88 US dollars) fare, he was also given a 100 euros (146 US dollars) tip.
Schumacher's spokesperson Sabine Kehm later confirmed the story.
The German track ace, who now lives in Switzerland, retired from Formula One in 2006 after a glittering career and, despite test drives for his old team Ferarri, has insisted there is no chance of a return to racing."

Would you give him the keys to your LBC?

brooklyns, im not soo impressed, obviously youve never taken a cab ride in manhattan. and nix on givin my healey keys to anyone. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/jester.gif

I've seen a few cab trips where I really wished Shumy was driving!!! /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/driving.gif

I'd let him drive any of my cars if I could be the co-pilot and I wouldn't be the least be upset if he drove the wheels off'em. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

But a thought - I suspect (would hope) that the Taxi caps in Europe are a heck of a lot better than the ones here in the US. /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smirk.gif

He could have the keys anytime with me as a co-pilot.

But this disturbs me deeply.

HE DROVE LIKE THAT WITH HIS WIFE AND TWO CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE!!!

BAD BAD BAD

My one and only trip to New York City was this summer. (Yes, I am a country bumpkin.) Took a cab from the theater district (walked out on Hairspray at intermission, borrriiing)
to the hotel in lower Manhattan. Wooosh! That Russian cabbie
could drive! I was impressed when he went through a tight spot and pushed a horse over with his fender.

AND DON'T FORGET THE DOG!

Honestly, dude? The guy won seven Formula One world championships. I think he's qualified.

Cammy, I really missed you /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif This is all IMHO /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/smile.gif

Putting all that at risk (beautiful wife, two future possible prodilogical sons and "a dog" = stupidity IMHO

Driving on the track alone and driving on the street with your family are TWO DIFFERENT THINGS!!!

Having a major lapse of responsibility and then admitting to doing it even worse.

Maybe I am a bit ignorant living in NYC, but lets face it shoot happens even on a race track.

As a kid, having a horse jump over my midget and not making it, I have learned that anything at anytime is possible.

Putting myself in a position of danger is one thing, others?

And if you haven't guessed I love dogs, cats and family, they all come first, you can live with your mistake, but could you live with your mistake and losing your family?

All IMHO

Safety fast

gb1, on the race track your fellow drivers know what to expect what your next move "might" be not so on the streets, god himself is not immune to being "t" boned at an intersection or getting smacked in the rear at a stop sign to believe that shoemaker has better ODs then anyone else is just nuts, nope he wont get my healey keys any time soon.

Thanks Anthony

But we have also seen the wandered farm animal as well /bcforum/images/%%GRAEMLIN_URL%%/wink.gif

Or the escargo (just an example) that "knew what he was doing".

It happens less often, but it does.

Once again thanks,

Pat
