Bye Bye Battering Rams!

I pulled the front bumper off my '79 tonight and set a grill from a late model sprite in the mouth. Ooooooooh baby! It looks good.

Does anyone have any experience cutting the battering ram mounts out of the mouth hole? It seems like it could be easily done with a cut off wheel.

Keep some pictures please.

Just took another look and I think some light grinding will get the grill to fit in the way I want. I may consider that so the next guy can put it back to stock some day. As much as possible, I like to make all my mods reversable just in case.

Any opinions?

Clap clap.

I cut mine back on the race car with a bent Sawzall blade....but you could just leave them as is and let the grill sit out (flush) to the grill-opening. I ran mine that way on the street for a few years and it looked fine to me.

Check it out. Almost done fabbing the mountin brackets. I ended up cutting the battering ram mounts back a few inches to get the grill to sit the way I wanted.
