Bumper paint

I just had the rear bumper on my BJ8 re-chromed. It originally had a silver/grey paint on the inside. The PO had replated the front many years ago. What is the best color to use to match the original since I have nothing to match? Do the over riders get painted inside too? Any recomondations as to the type of paint that will stick to chrome?

Hi Rich,

I've heard the silver gray color referred to as "tuna can silver" but I can't remember what brand name I used on mine. The over riders get painted too. The insides usually have enough texture for paint to stick well since they don't get polished during the various chroming steps. Clean as well as you can with prep-sol or lacquer thinner and you should be good for another 40 or so years.

Cheers,
John
