My car has been running a rough lately, so I did a bit of diagnostic work this morning. As many of you may know, I have been experimenting with fuel injection and computer controlled ignition timing. I thought I had my timing table set up pretty well, but when I pulled my plugs I detected very slight "salt and pepper." Oh no! Detonation!

I next did a compression check. 150-150-145-100. Ughh!

I am starting a new job that is a looong commute, and I have a new kid on the way (should be her in May). So I have decided to take the Midget off the road for a bit.

I have a lot of Midget chores that need to be done that I have parts for or do not require much money to complete. But they do require taking the car off the road for an extended period. Also, in my eagerness to get the car on the road, I rushed through a lot of things that have come round to bite me on the butt.

I am going to go over things again, and this time save the money and take the time to do it right. Hopefully, next year I will have a solid, High MPG daily driver... and a few new products to share with the Spridgeteering world.

Ps. My bolt on front shock conversion has been a resounding success. At least that makes me feel better.

Some times you must take a step back to go forward. Enjoy the wife and the garage time and keep us up to date.

Do a wet compression check.
