Healey Passion's "Bullitt Healey" looks like it may have made an appearance in a new book entitled "Hollywood and the Ivy Look"

Read about it here: https://www.classicdriver.com/uk/magazine/3800.asp?id=15743

Steve and PL were real car lovers and pretty darn good racers too.

I give up ... who's 'Healey Passion' and 'PL'?

"Healey Passion" is forum member Steve Thomton's screen name. He owns the Healey that's shown to the left of McQueen in the photo above, albeit with a ton of improvements. Here's the story: https://stevesaustinhealey.com/index.php?...=5&Itemid=6

And "PL" has got to be Paul Newman

That's correct, Paul "PL" Newman would use his initials when he started racing at the ammeter level so he wouldn't draw attention to himself and his "Hollywood star status". At the track he just wanted to be know at a racer like everyone else and the PL stuck as he gained a reputation as a skilled racer.

Just catching up... per HealeyRick... yes, Reid ran an article about my "Bullitt Healey" in August 2010 Healey Marque.

You can see from this picture (above) that the Healey is a rollup window Austin Healey (of course, from this angle it could be a BJ7 or BJ8). Just before this clip, Steve M. pulls his Mustang into a parking place in front of the white Austin Healey... in this sequence you see from the parking lights that it is either a BJ7 or Phase I BJ8. I hired a police forensic guy to go through that video sequence to validate the black/gold license plate number. I have those black/gold plates. Interestly, else where in the movie you see another white A.H., but it is a BT7 with a different plate number. Clearly, I've spent way to much time going through some of the Bullitt movie frame by frame.

Cheers,
Steve

In most cases these days that wouldn't be possible. We rent or make plates to put on cars that you see in movies. Good thing your Healey was filmed in a more sane era of our legal system.

How about recreating the Bullitt chase scene where it goes flying through the air?
