Building Engine=Easy Button, Sunvisors=@#%$

Been through all the trials and tribulations of building an engine and managed to come through with relative success. The big kicker is getting my @#%$ sunvisors to stay up!!
I'm serious, does anyone out there have a special trick to keeping these darn things in the upright position? They are realtively new, and I can't for the life of me figure out how to crimp that metal tube inside the padded visor enough to keep the visor up at speed, or even at a redlight. This is killing me as I am trying to look cool by holding the blasted thing up with my left hand, steer with my knee and shift with my right hand. Not good. The right visor is hopeless. What is the trick here, folks? What I would give for an Easy Button here.

Bill-

Instead of crimping the metal tube on the inside, how about a small amount of tape on the rods to build up the diameter? I'd be surprised if you can get a tighter fit that way.

Randy.

Duct tape.

Isn't it the answer for practically any problem like this? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/jester.gif

The tape on the rod might be a solution... but I think it'd "wear" and loosen again, perhaps winding a little thin wire around the rod to provide some friction.

Yes, some tape (duct or masking) on the rods to build up their diameters. Works every time.

I used black electrical tape. It's invisible when in place, and so far so good...

Rporter,

The tape won't show as long as you only wind it on the part of the rod that's always inside the visor. That's usually more than enough to do the job.
