Building a Console For My 100-Six

I finally got a positive earth radio off eBay to use with my BN4. It's an aftermarket unit that came out of an MGA that looks right for the period. Here is a picture

Anyhow, I am not going to chop up my dash so I want to build a console to host the radio and the speaker. Since I also have a set of fog lights, I want incorporate the switch into it as well. Does anyone have a picture that they would share of an pre MkIII car that has a console that I can use for design ideas?

Thanks
Patton

Patton, no need to build one. I have a console, with the nice original screen for the speaker already to go on your car. I even have an extended armrest that completes the console. It's finished in red, but needs to be replaced. Email me offline and I'll send you a couple of pictures. I just bought a BJ7 to restore and the PO tried to do just what your're doing, add a radio. He lost interest before completing the restoration, however. Since BJ7's didn't have a console I don't need it. I can be reached at "jlore26@att.net"

It would still be nice to see some pictures if someone has a homemade console. For my 3000 Mk 1 I am planning to make a console for a stereo out of plexi-glass ( and pad with black vinyl or leather). I think it should go from the heater box and down to the gearbox tunnel. Planning to bend the plexi glass around the heather box so it is possible to fit speakers on the sides.

On eBay their was an auction for a Jag Mk 2 Center Console to install in a Healey. I didn't bite back then, but I saved a copy of the auction. Here is the picture of it installed in the car

I like the look overall, but I don't like the slide switches, and I believe that the sides are open.

I have kept an eye open for a MK2 console to play with, but haven't seen another one for reasonable cost.

I just installed a hidden XM radio in my BT7. I can take the tuner out of my Pickup and put it into my Healey in 5 seconds. Now if only Rush Limbaugh the national windbag would go on XM life would be all good. Skip

Seems like a lot of work just to hear a lot of static. I just throw the "boom box" in the seat and take off.
