MGB Buick or Olds

New member introduction here. I have been active on the site for many years under the Austin Healey section and have ground up restored three Healey's. Just purchased an MGB GT and am going to have some fun with it. Going to do a V8 swap and have the choice of a few 215 V8's. Some are Buick and some are Olds. From the basic research I have done there are a number of differences between them. Mainly in the intake and heads.

I am just looking for opinions as to which motor is preferred. One of the motors is a complete Olds version with a 2bbl.

This is going to be a fun project!

Hey, Steve -

As you noted, the differences are minor. I don't know whether there's any true benefit of one over the other. If you haven't already, check out the British V8 website; there's a wealth of info there, along with lots of pictures and accounts of the conversions. More here: https://www.britishv8.org/photos-mg-conversions.htm

Don't rule out the GM V6 swap either -- Mickey's GT has one, and I've a friend local that just finished up one. That v6 is a nice fit and a good motor if you're going to swap.

Didn't want to muddy the water, but yep - finishing mine up now and I love it!

I personally went with a Rover 3.9 litre, then bored and stroked it to about 5 litres. If I had it to da over, I would probably do the Ford 302 conversion simply because of the aftermarket parts and support that is available
