The Buick 3.8L V6 is very similar to the Rover V8 so you may be able use some of swap parts. There was a late 70s/early 80s Buick Skylark that came with a manual tranny and the 3.8L.

If you want to V6 swap the 2.8/3.1/3.4L V6 Chevy has a bolt in kit available. There is a couple of threads on this one already if you do a search.

Edit: also the last of the V6 Camaros/Firebirds had the 3.8L with a 5 speed.

At what point with a V6 swap would you need to beef up the rear end, as far as torque, gears, etc...
Right from the get go, or not needed until you get into the bigger 3.4L?

I am considering doing a motor swap. I was wondering if anyone has done a swap with a buick 3.8L V6 or knows of someone doing it. Also, if there is a manual tranny that will bolt to this motor and if anycompanys make an install kit.

My B is currently undergoing a V6 conversion at a shop called the killerB. I'm using a 3.4 60degree gm mated to a new T5 trans. Stock rearend. The engine and trans. are in now. The haltech computer will sit inside the glovebox. This is not a bolt-in, new mounts were fabricated. Makes the install look and sit like factory. I should have pics soon.

How much is this running you to do this swap, if you don't mind me asking, a rough estimate will do. Just curious.

The cost of the swap is going to run around 6 grand, maybe more. BUT, the 3.4 has 4000 miles, the haltech and the trans. are NEW. The NEW radiator is a cobra repro. The NEW driveshaft is custom fit, as well as the headers.ETC,

wouldn't it be e bit cheaper if you did the work yourself? btw I've seen some of the first pics and they are doing a great job

Chuck, of course it would be cheaper, but my technical abilities and time constraints are big factors. My lawn and landscape business is in full swing, so I'm limited to rain days for car work. Dann Wade, who owns the shop,(which is now called British car conversions) has been great to work with. I've done alot of the legwork, pulled the dash, reworked some wiring, etc. But he's the brains behind the project, and when you see the finished piece, I think you will really be impressed, I am so far! I hope to be driving by June1, maybe sooner. The new white-faced instruments will arrive this week, and the reworked dash will go back in. Stay tuned.

That is great Bryan!! If he has it done by June 1st, then obviously you will be in St Looooie on the weekend of the 18th , right????

I'm driving my 'B from Victoria, so you can do it!@!!
