Bugsy Pics - 68 Sprite with BE Bonnet

Here are some pics of Bugsy my '68 Sprite with Steel BE Bonnet installed. Forward Tilting and fabulously expensive Rustoleum BRG Paint Job. Yes a complete paint job for < $50 can actually be done with this method and considering the way the bonnet looked when I started with it, it looks fabulous.

I just redid the grille using electrolytic rust removal on a badly rusted grille that I did not think was salvageable. 24 hours in the soup and it stopped bubbling, that's when you know it is done. Shiny metal underneath when I rinsed everything off. I primered and used Rustoleum Chrom from a rattle can. Paint would not work on a bumper well but for a small surface area like a grille looks fabulous from 4-5 feet away.

Anyway, Bugsy will get twin white stipes like The Mite later this year. My better half has projects lined up for me that I need to complete before I go back to work on Bugsy. Time now to get out and drive.

Very Nice Jim! You should be very proud of all the work you have done. Now drive it like you stole it!

Jim, you are an inspiration to us all.

Love your car, and the paint job.

Wow...nice job. Man, those seats look comfortable.
I like those wheels too.
If you are needing an emblem for the bonnet I saw one on e-bay just yesterday. Kudos on a job well done.

Although I'm not an advocate of that painting method, I still gotta say it looks pretty darn nice from here. Congratulations on a big job well done. Now if I could just get mine anywhere near that condition...

Thanks guys, just doing what I can as a member of the "We Tight" Club.

Seats from a Miata and not only are they comfy but headrest speakers can pound out the sounds even at 75 MPH.

Wheels are simple Rostyles with trim rings.

Dude...that's down right decadent. Nice touch. :cooler:

Your car looks great!
Now take it over to Marc's so he can get motivated!

Bugsy looks great, you can be very proud.
Someday, Someday soon oh how I dream

Jim, Nice looking car. I started my body work earlier last week and have a few sections stripped and primered. I put on a few coats of sandable primer then went over it with sealing primer. Once I get the entire car done I think Im going to try your paint job method as I dont have the cash to have an expert do it. I have some pics of my progress but have yet to figure out how to attach them.
