Neat!

It has a behind-seat cut-out like on a Mk4 (but without the folding top) so lots of room inside too.
 
I like it. Very nice job someone did.
 
Looks like they used either a MkII Sprite or MkI Midget for the rear seat & trunk area.
 
An early one too judging by the position of the boot prop rod bracket.

That is a VERY nice job, beautifully executed...I just really don't think it does anything for the look of the car though!
 
That is too cool. I have to admit between the tilting bonnet, and the trunklidless rear boot, I never got real excited about the Bugeye, neat looking, sure, practical, not even close. On the race cars it always was a act of congress to get a fuel cell in them, and always a hard area to work in, so I always gravitated to the square body, maybe not as sexy, but with that big old accessable hood, and trunk lid of the square body it just screamed pratical to me. I thought about putting a trunk in a Bugeye like that about a million times, but don't think I ever saw before, nice job.

Well, yes, but... It's the "roundness" of the rear end that is lacking its BE shapeliness that bothers me about this one! :wink: :devilgrin:

I do agree that it is much more "practical" though...as "practical" as these cars can be!!
 
Yeah it looks like they just grafted a Midget deck lid on a Bugeye. I think a cooler approach would be to use the section you removed from the BE's boot bodywork to make a custom one off deck lid, so the exact shape is retained. I didn't really notice this until you said something about the roundness.
 
I don't think they did the graft or a couple of reasons. A quality boot lid kit was available for Bugeyes in the mid sixties. The license plate lamp plinth appears to be correct for a Bugeye. The later plinths have a much steeper back that wont fit a Bugeye and visa versa.
