Bugeye wiper rack install/remove

Hi guys,
I'm restoring a 59 Bugeye (AN5L/26872).
I am trying to remove the wiper assembly but have hit a snag.
I have the wheel boxes and last two sections of the "pipe" removed/slid off the wiper rack.
Now I want to remove the wiper rack/cable and first "curved" section of the pipe/sleeve. I've taken the top off the wiper motor and there is a little "arm" that seems to be attached to the end of the rack/cable.

I don't see how this arm is attached and it won't let go of that end of the cable. I tried to pry it up with a small screwdriver but no go. I don't want to booger it up so I stopped.

Advice?

Thanks!
Fred

ISTR that the cable end is permanently attached to the cable. End of cable is a slip fit over the pin of the slider being driven by the motor. Outer cable has an expanded end that has to be lifted with the inner cable so that the inner will come off the pin. Hope this makes sense.

OK
I pried a little harder on the arm and the downward directed pin came free from the cable end.
Maybe I should detach the arm from the gear on it's other end rather than pry upward?
thanks
Fred

I completely removed, refurbished, and reinstalled my entire wiper system recently, so I went through all you are doing recently. I think all you are doing is removing the wiper assembly, correct? To do this I did the following: I removed the cable by taking the four screws on top of the wiper unit plate off. I removed the plate that was held on my these screws, and then pulled the "can" off. Once you do this, there is simply a clip you remove in the circular area. If there is still a lot of grease, the clip may not be apparent at first glance. The cable then is separated from the gear shaft and is easily lifted out. Be careful with the copper piece on the shaft that comes in contact with the bottom of the can. I might suggest you take pictures as you go so you have a reference later. That has gotten me out of trouble many times.
