Bugeye Sprite Color Question...

Greetings...

I recently purchased a black 1959 Bugeye Sprite. I know the car was not originally black (it was light blue); however, I was curious if black was even a color available for the Sprite in 1959(?).

Thanks,

Kurtis

If you are interested in putting things back close to original you might want to pick up a copy of terry Horler's book "original sprite and midget".

But, No blck for a '59. Light blue may be speedwell blue or iris blue depending on what you mean by "light"

I'm not too worried about originality, and I kind of like the look of the black paint (the paint is showing it's age however). I was mainly just curious, as I've only seen one other black Bugeye on the internet.

Thanks for the quick reply!

Kurtis

Black was shown on the brochure for the first and second year but never offered. I did mine black with Austin red leather interior.

Unfortunately, my car is black on black. I would love to have a red interior with a black exterior; however, at this point my interior is in better shape than the black paint job. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Thanks for the info everyone!
