Hi guys - I started digging into the rear suspension today and removed the radius arms and shocks OK but the rear bushing in the leaf springs is putting up a fight.

Specifically, I can't get #2 our because the bolt #3 on the top left schematic won't budge. Is there a trick to this or do I just need to be a BFH and have at it.

Thanks!

Most likely just stuck with rust or crud. Try soaking it with penetrating oil for a while then put the nut back on loosly to protect the threads and tap (or pound. :thumbsup:smile:,

Actualy I took #1 apart and then used a big hammer. Gave the spring a chance to move a bit.

Wait - should the U-bolts still be attached when I try to hammer the bolt out? If I remove the nuts on the bottom of the u-bolt will that place stress on the bolt I'm trying to remove and this make it harder?

Don't think so.

I was much like Donn. I really tried. Heat, penetrating oil, air hammer, etc. In the end ... angle grinder.

If in the car I should think a saw-sall woould work well or a torch.

Out of car a press maybe or the above as well.

So I went and talked to my local Brit car mechanic and I explained the problem I was having and he immediately rolled his eyes and under a groan said "I hate those bolts....Cut them out!"

So the take away here is that if you are assembling these use lots of grease on the bolt to sleeve and make sure everything is well coated.
