Bugeye hardtop

I'm thinking of getting a cheap hardtop for my 59 frogeye. Does anyone know what type of fitting hardware is required for one of these: ebay hardtop
Does it slot into the same clips on the back that are used for the soft top? :confuse:
Thanks
Adrian

I'm not a BE guy so we'll wait for the pros but you need some hardware by the seats and clamp like guys at the front to clamp onto the windscreen frame. Perhaps more worrisome than that is what will you do for glass in the back? I can't imagine that is easy to come by for a somewhat obscure non-factory hard top, unless it uses the OEM glass, but even then.....

Man, that looks cool, I never see one before. I'd like to see it installed. I'm sure you could make some mounting gear, but
I agree the glass maybe a problem. I like it! Dave

If it mounts like the factory top, you need clips for the leading edge that hook into the aluminum lip of the windsheild. In the rear, you need brackets that line up with the receivers welded to the car for the soft top frame. A long bolt drops through a hole in the bracket down through the receivers and a large wing nut threads onto the bolt to hold it tight to the body.

I think that that one is referred to as the "Dan Dare" hardtop, fairly rare.
One of the guys here in the Seattle area has one that he is selling, I think that it had the back glass too.

Bill, who and how much?

That flare ridge could be good spot for a third brake light.

or an afterburner

or a couple of lasers

or a spray that sends oil

I've heard of people bending their own plexiglas, but don't know how easy it is to do.

Many thanks on fixing question & the links. It looks like a good top.
Plexiglas is what I have in mind for the window. I'll make a thin wooden template & I've access to a large oven to warm it to bend it.
Or I may splash out & buy a new window. Thanks to John Shep. This very hardtop is available new from "Frogeye Spares Company Limited" as is a new perspex window for ÂŁ48 "UK pounds" They also do all the seals & bolts.
Thanks All.
Now all I have to do is win it, collect it, refurbish it, buy/make screen, buy seals, fit it. It'll probably be summer by then & I'll hang it up in the shed. But then with the British summers it will probably stay on. I'll post photos.

As for an afterburner..... I'll fit a spark plug just inside the cowl & standby with the beans.

"Any more more beans Mr Taggart"

Doesn't look so good on the car as I thought it would. But I do like the hardtop concept, maybe just another shape/style. Just looks big to me. HMMMMMMM

ah ha! yes page 29 a hardtop with all fixings. Looks like an easy option, but a little pricey.
I'll see what this e-bay item goes for & how close my bid is.
Thanks. :driving:
