Bugeye Fuel Line Nut & Sleeve For Gas Tank

Does anyone where I can find the nut and sleeve for a bugeye fuel line. This is the one that attaches the fuel line to the Gas Tank. Both Moss and Vic Brit show the nut but not the sleeve for the seat to the tank outlet. I'm told locally that I need a bubble flair for a 1/4" fuel line. All I can find are 3/16" sleeves

If it is the same as the return line for a 1500, I've got one you can have. I'll chop up the line but that's no problem.

anyone know?

Try Victoria British. Listed on page 84 of their Fall 2008 catalog. the nut is listed for $6.95, but no ferrule is listed. '65 and later seems to be a different design.

The Service Parts List shows the nut as P/N 6K648 and the olive (sleeve) as P/N 6K685. I got a new nut and olive at Royal Brass and Hose in Knoxville when I had them build me a new line.

I actually have a nut and a ferrule that was on the car when I got it. The nut is usable but the ferrule is my problem. The ferrule seems to be soldered in place on the 1/4" fuel line. I tried heating it up with a Burns a Matic but had no luck getting it off. The fuel line is badly rusted and not usable. I'm using an electric fuel pump and will use a rubber fuel line from the tank to the pump, only about a foot. I found a 1/4" barbed nipple at Lowes that threads into the tank outlet hole and has the 1/4" pipe attached.Could I use that instead of the original nut and ferrule? This nipple is one piece and I don't think I would need the ferrule for a seal.

I don't know why that would not work I have used a similar solution on my boat fuel tank. All you are doing is replacing the brass line with rubber to you new fuel pump. I would just securely attach the line to the curved area above the axel well and leave a little slack.

Regularman is correct the thread is 1/4 BSPP. 0.515 O.D. x 19 TPI.
The standard fitting (brass) shown above will "somewhat" appear to screw in (until the mismatch of the threads and taper fight each other) but is completely incorrect for a good fit. That’s not to say with enough oomph and tape it would not leak but…

I tried calling Royal Brass and Hose in Knoxville to see if they had the ferrule in stock as Whitephrog had suggested but with the holiday weekend they are closed.I was able to locate the part in England via the internet but that will take a while to arrive. Other than the fuel line all I have to do is a final wiring check, bleed the brakes and Fire it up! It's been a LONG five year project and I'm getting antsy.I've spent the better part of the week looking for one little part.

You should be able to find a local shop like Royal Brass and Hose, places that do hydraulic lines for trucks and construction equipment.

I'll start calling around on Tuesday, about everything except Wall Mart is closed up tight around here for the 4th of July.........Just have to wait.....Nuts!!!!

Once again, if it is the same as the 1500 return line, I can have it off today - will still take a week+ to come from Canada but, quicker than Blighty

Thanks for the offer John but as I understand the ferrule I need is different from the later Sprites and Midgets. The nut and ferrule I need is for 1958 to 1965 Spridgets. I imagine they changed the hardware around to meet E.P.A. standards.I see Vic Brit has the ferrule for the 1965 to 1974 tank. I called them and they confirmed the parts weren't interchangeable. Thanks Again.
