Last week, at the British car club meeting ( I'm the president this year) I always get a few tips from members about cars in the area for sale to announce during the meeting. This time it was form a member who told me a co-wroker relative had a pretty solid inside stored for many years Bugeye for sale for $1500. The second I announced it, Wayne Telman raised his hand in excitement, I told him to get with and get the details after the mmeting. Well yesterday Wayne came by the shop told me he bought and picked up the Bugeye overe the weekend, and it was alot better than he expected for a $1500 Bugeye, and that it already had a 1275 in it. Well long story short, he's bring me the motor today to drop to get in line for a rebuild.

Wayne is go-geter when it comes to restoring, he started a couple of years ago with a Model A, but didn't enjoying driving it that much, so he moved on to a 1966 MGB, now he taking on the Bugeye, so I know this project will happen because Wayne is one of those guy that gets the job done.

On a side note I dissassembled Ray's 1275 yesterday, looked pretty solid, has a .010/.010 crank that maybe can just tkae a polish, the bearings in the engine looked almost new.

I hope to get the galley plugs out of Drew and Ray's engine today and get them both into a caustic wash, this will be Drew's engine second caustic wash.

$1500 solid tub bugeye with 1275... why do I never come across these deals? Oh well, glad it is going to somebody that will put it on the road rather than a "dream" restorer.

Hey, Hap. I have a question for you. I have no oil slinger ring for the timing chain on my 1275. Mine did not have one on it when I tore it apart and I did not see know that I needed one until I had the motor back in. Do you think it will last like that?

Glad one more will be back on the road. Guess I've got to get busy now!

Trevor, on some of the fancy vernier timing gear set we ran, the slinger got in the way of the fancy JWIS timing chain they used, and we just deleted the slinger, have not seen any ill effects becuae of it, just watch for any big leaks there, if you don't see any, don't worry about it.
