Bugeye exhaust

Hi, Trying to get the header pipe tight so as not leaking. Has a donut in the manifold end but not in HP. Can't get the factory sealing clamp tight enough. Any suggestions? thanks

Which car?? 1275 or earlier? The clamps on the earlier cars are a PITA if the pipe does not line up perfectly. Just reattached one on a 10CC and used a liberal application of a exhaust sealer I got from local friendly auto parts store. No leaks!!

Kurt.

Yes- exhaust sealer works wonders after you have made sure that the flange is not deformed. Once you get it to seal then be sure to install the brace from the bottom of the engine to the pipe or it will fall off again and again!

If you can't get to the parts store, coat the clamping surface of the clamp with motor oil before assembly. That will help it all slide together properly. The oil burns off and Bob's yer Uncle.

It's a 1275. I tried it again today with same results. I'll get the sealer tomorrow and try it again. thanks

Take a photo of the exhaust flange and post it- something doesn't sound quite right.
