Bugeye engines

I'm new to the bugeye game so bare with me. My father has a bugeye sprite (I think a 60' or 61' on a MG midget 63' frame?)thats been in the garage ever since I can remember. We took the engine out in 94' and found out that it was frozen. Is there anyone who could tell me if an alturnative engine would fit if I am unable to locate a proper sprite engine. My father was talking about a small block Chevy? I think he wants a little more POWER!!! Any help or spec's would be much appreciated.
Thanks Guys

You'll probably have more and better answers by posting this to the "Spridgets" forum here, too. While we do get a few Spritely people here I think more of them are there, more of the time.

Hope this helps... even if I can't.....

As for going to a bigger engine the people at the "nasty boys" site may be more helpful with that.

There are a number of engines suitable for transplant into an early or late model Sprite.

Personally, I'd like to see the 220 HP Tuarus SHO V6 put into a Sprite. Here it is in a 100-4.

Because the engine is transverse in the Taurus and in-line in a Healey or Sprite, it is not a
"drop-in" swap, but neither is any other Chevy or Ford V8 or 6.

I am the web master for the Modified AH Registry - https://ntahc.org/modifiedhealeys/

We have more than 25 Sprites with a wide variety of transplanted engines.

have a tweeked 1275 output 100 hp to flywheel

Lots of choices really, 948s, 1050s, ann 1275s are all available. Parts all of them but the block are available from Moss Moters. Give Tony Barnhill a call. For example I just boughe a set of 60 over pistons through him.

How about a Hemi? (Safe Harbor: do not try this at home. This is a completly custom fabricated chassis with only the "skin" of a buyeye covering it.
