I ran my new bugeye on the dyno this weekend. Here are the results and click here to see the video. The car has an impressively flat torque curve.

has to be 948, wow, look at that drop off at 5K. tells ya something.

3K to 5K is where ya want to be when raceing stuff, but then I think I could even feel that.

Neat stuff.

Tell us about the engine please, overbore? Stock? What?

Good for you. I recently did a dyno run with my B and it was a very strange sensation! Plus just winding the engine up like that, you feel like it might fly apart! I don't see a sensor in your tail pipe. I guess you didn't do a gas analysis?

50 hp at the rear wheels would be over 60 for the engine. That's right at 1 hp/cubic inch which is very respectible.

So what's been done under the bonnet?

I actually don't know much about the car as I just got it, the engine has lost it serial tag and I know that the car ran Solo II previously, I was told it has been a race car since new and then was changed to a road car by the previous owner. I haven't taken the valve cover off but I suspect a roller cam, and it has an aluminum flywheel and Aldon distributor.

I've been thinking of picking up that app for my iPod Touch. Seems pretty cool for the home-garage-tinkerer. Very clever use of technology.

Pretty sure it's all done by GPS, right?

*edit* Oh, guess not! "Dynolicious is an all-purpose automotive performance meter, utilising the built-in accelerometer in the iPhone and iPod touch to record your driving characteristics. BunsenTech, the makers of the software, claim that it can record 0-100 times within .08 of a second, accurately estimate your current speed and monitor and record any directional G force. (...) Entering your car's weight and estimated power even allows Dynolicious to fulfil its namesake, calculating actual wheel horsepower and drivetrain efficiency with surprising accuracy."

Neato!

That is correct the iPhone has a 3-axis accelerometer and it uses that to calculate all the data. All you need to do is take your car to a scale to get an accurate measurement and then slap the phone on the dash. No wires, stores unlimited number of cars data, and can be moved from car to car in seconds.

Last night my friend needed a place to keep his race car so I am letting him use my garage. I am going to get some reading from it to see how it compares.

I put four of these on the back of the phone and then I could stick it anywhere, the dots stick very good and come off easily without leaving any residue. They hold much stronger than sticky tack.
