First time to this forum and just posted in new members. I am slowly working towards getting a `60 bugeye back together. A long time before any real progress starts showing, but...The car is red with red interior. The dash is black and appears never to have been repainted. It still has crayon markings on back so I assume its original. Just making sure it is correct color on the red car. I dont have a lot of info to work with. I have seen many painted exterior color and others black. One more Q? This is a right hand drive car and I need to know the location of gauges. From what I can tell they are not the same for either side. Thanks for any input.

Red interior, red dash.

Markings on rear of dash will tell you how car was orginaly built and interior color. Right to left I think. Fuel, spedo, tac, oil/water temp.

You came to the right place to ask questions, we got answers, lots of us are in the process at the moment. Check my web site below for some info.

Ask what ever info you need, someone will have the answer for sure. And welcome, we like lots of pics by the way.

Put your real name at least the first name in your signature. We all on a first name basis here.

The dash color was whatever the interior color was. Dash was covered with vinyl not/never painted except for primer under the vinyl. Red seats and door panels would have a red vinyl covered dash and the upper dash trim piece would also be covered in red vinyl.

Instruments for a right hand drive car would be going right to left: gas guage, speedo, tach, oil/water guage. Starter pull switch between the tach and oil water, heater control, ignition switch with the turn signal switch above it, then the windshield wiper switch, then the choke pull cable.

OK this had something covering it at one time. It may have been dead sun dried vinyl, but looked more like a bad case of lepercy. So the black is original color(primerd or topcoat) with vinyl glued over it. Is there a thin foam layer with covering and how fine is the grain of vinyl? You guys have already made me know I came to the right place. Thanks

No nothing between the vinal and the dash but paint and glue. The cockpit suround above the dash, the alumn. peice is also covered with the same vinal. The remainder of the cockpit suround is anodized but we usually polish it.
